Position Title: TEACHER (Pre-K)

 

Location: Sand Springs Early Childhood Education Center

Supervisor: Site Principal, Morgan Douglas

 

Contract: 180 days yearly, 7 hours daily

 

Evaluation:    TLE

 

Status: Exempt

 

 

CERTIFICATION:

Applicants must be appropriately certified AND highly qualified. To be appropriately certified and highly skilled, successful candidates must hold a current teaching certificate issued by the Oklahoma State Department of Education. They must meet the following criteria: Hold a valid Early Childhood Education Certificate (Birth to Age 8 or Grade 3)  AND Meet all SDE requirements. 

 

Must pass an Oklahoma Criminal Background Check

 

SUMMARY OF FUNCTION:

Demonstrate the competencies and behaviors needed to improve student preparedness and mastery of skills and grade-level curriculum and support the core values, vision, and mission of Sand Springs Public Schools.

 

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Demonstrates mastery of related subject matter, instructional skills, and resource materials for the course(s) taught.

- Creates lesson plans aligned with current state and district standards, which drives instruction through formative assessment and differentiation.

- Maintains a safe, organized classroom, supporting students’ independent learning, collaboration, and choice.

- Utilizes a variety of effective instructional and management techniques.

- Provides a variety of assessments and uses assessments for planning and instruction

Provide consistent, immediate feedback to student learning and ask analytical questions that elicit students’ responses that incorporate prior knowledge, life experience, and interests directly related to the content objective.

- Monitor and maintain a positive classroom environment that supports the school-wide behavior expectation in which most students are engaged, incorporates mutual respect, and provides collaborative learning opportunities.

- Uses available technology/instructional media to enhance students’ learning experiences.

Establishes and maintains appropriate relationships with students, parents, staff, and community members by communicating tactfully, courteously, and confidentially.

- Appropriately communicates and interacts with other professional staff in academic planning and school committee work.

- Attends and participates in staff meetings, extra-curricular school-related activities, and committees.

- Demonstrates a commitment to continuous professional growth and works with the administrator to formulate and complete professional development plans.

- Maintains a professional appearance and demonstrates conscientious and responsible behavior.

- Engages parents

and guardians in the education of their children.

- Does not engage in discriminatory practices, including race, origin, gender, socioeconomic status, disability, religion, or political beliefs.

- Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the site administrator.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to speak clearly in a well-modulated voice with good diction. Ability to read, write, and interpret English in various forms. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform basic functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee will be lifting, bending, and crawling under desks and counters and must lift a minimum of thirty (30) pounds. The employee will be standing and climbing stairs.
