Sand Springs Schools is accepting applications for Freshman Academy (9th Gr. CPHS) Volleyball COACH for the 2024-2025 season. The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to running all aspects of a comprehensive 9th-grade PROGRAM, including Practice and event day management & coaching, staffing, media and public relations, fiscal management of the program budget (including mandatory budgetary training), and other responsibilities assigned by the Athletic Director. 
 
Summary: Successful candidates must possess excellent organizational and communication skills, be able to maintain and direct the booster club, be able to interact effectively and appropriately with student-athletes, maintain student-athlete academic integrity, and demonstrate a commitment to Sand Springs Public Schools as well as OSSAA regarding rules and regulations. Review of all applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Any teacher/coach must possess the ability to perform these essential job functions and typical duties:
  • Support the mission, vision, values, and goals of the school;
  • Create, plan, and teach fundamentals of the sport to a diverse student population;
  • Effectively and consistently communicate and interact with students, parents, staff, and community while enthusiastically demonstrating and modeling good sportsmanship;
  • Provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of children;
  • Commitment to develop and condition student-athletes, in and out of season, per OSSAA regulations,
  • Ability to build and maintain an atmosphere of fun and mutual respect;
  • Ability to work collaboratively with administration and teaching staff;
  • Maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures and practices;
  • Monitor the proper use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.


ADDITIONAL STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend periodic athletic department meetings;
  • Engage student-athletes in academic mentoring;
  • Available to student-athletes 30 minutes before and after practices and events;
  • Assist with event set up and clean up;
  • Maintain and direct booster club.


Qualifications: 

  • Elementary, Middle School, or High school (or higher level) playing/coaching experience (preferred),
  • Successful Criminal Background Check,
  • excellent communication and organization skills,
  • certification in First Aid,
  • must have Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries and
  • Activity Account Management Training

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to speak clearly in a well-modulated voice with good diction. Ability to read, write, and interpret English in various forms. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee will be lifting, bending, and crawling and must be able to raise a minimum of thirty (30) pounds. The employee will be standing and climbing stairs.
