JOB TITLE: Custodial Worker
DEPARTMENT: Maintenance
REPORTS TO: Maintenance Director, Chris Clemons
CONTRACT DAYS: 10-month contract with the possibility of extra duties during 2 summer months
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS: OSBI Background Check and a valid Driver's License are required.
Beginning salary $12.23/hr. Benefits after a 45-day probationary period.
Shift – 8hr. Early (6 a.m.- 2:30 p.m.) or Late (Late morning to early evening)
POSITION SUMMARY:
- Perform routine custodial duties at assigned school during an assigned shift; clean classrooms, restrooms, shower/locker rooms, corridors, and other assigned areas.
- Move and arrange furniture and equipment; set up and assemble chairs, tables, and other furniture and equipment for special events and activities; clean up furniture, equipment, and debris following these events.
- Assist with ground maintenance and snow removal activities as required.
- Clean light fixtures, windows, walls, furniture, blinds, carpet, and other related items. Strip, scrub, and refinish floors; frequency and timing to be determined by Site Head Custodian.
- Operate custodial equipment such as vacuums, mops, carpet cleaners, and blowers as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Dependability and professionalism regarding assigned duties and work schedules.
- Must have excellent communication and “people” skills.
- Previous custodial/cleaning experience is a plus.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Computer literate. Ability to follow all district policies and procedures. Ability to work independently, displaying initiative and enthusiasm for the tasks being done. Demonstrate strong communication skills, orally and in writing, with faculty, staff, team members, and administrators. Ability to work without supervision and work as a team player. Ability to document records accurately. Ability to listen effectively.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to speak clearly. Ability to read and interpret general written instructions in the English language. Ability to effectively communicate with supervisor, school personnel, and co-workers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to perform basic math functions such as addition and subtraction.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Specific physical characteristics and abilities are required to perform the work, such as dexterity of hands and fingers, walking or standing for extended periods of time, bending, kneeling, twisting, and reaching overhead, above shoulders, and horizontally, lifting and carrying supplies and equipment weighing 50 pounds or more, and pushing or pulling moderately heavy objects.
