Certification:Education: Bachelor's Degree Required Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc: Oklahoma Teaching Certification in Elementary Education or applicable teaching fields Other: Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others, demonstrate self-discipline and initiative, and follow state and district guidelines Pass an OSBI Background Check BenefitsCompensation: TeacTeacher'sary Schedule Overtime Status: Exempt Position Summary: Creating a flexible elementary grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establishing effective rapport with pupils; motivating pupils to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for elementary grade education by each pupil skill level; and establishing good relationships with parents and other staff members. Responsibilities Teaches art to pupils in a classroom, using the course of study adopted by the Oklahoma State Department of Education and SSPS Board of Education Policies. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil and achieve the identified objectives. Translates lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize the available time for instruction. Utilizes grading patterns that are fairly administered and based on identified criteria. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. Will treat pupils with respect and dignity. Evaluate academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports. Communicate with parents in various ways to discuss pupils' progress and interpret the school program. Interacts with pupils, staff, and parents in a positive and professional manner. Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems. Establish rapport with pupils and provide a pleasant, safe, and orderly climate conducive to learning. Actively participates in fully implementing the SPS digital learning model for student learning. Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities. Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day. Other Duties and Responsibilities : • Teaches art to pupils in a classroom, using the course of study adopted by the Oklahoma State Department of Education and Sand Springs Public Schools Board of Education and any other appropriate learning activities as supported by the district/site administration. • Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and school district administrative regulations and procedures.Demonstrates mastery of related subject matter, instructional skills, and resource materials for the course(s) taught. - Creates lesson plans aligned with current state and district standards, which drives instruction through formative assessment and differentiation. - Maintains a safe, organized classroom that supports studstudents'ependent learning, collaboration, and choice. - Utilizes a variety of effective instructional and management techniques. - Provides a variety of assessments and uses assessments for planning and instruction - Provide consistent, immediate feedback to student learning and ask analytical questions that elicit studstudents'ponses that incorporate prior knowledge, life experience, and interests directly related to the content objective. - Monitor and maintain a positive classroom environment that supports the school-wide behavior expectation in which most students are engaged, incorporates mutual respect, and provides collaborative learning opportunities. - Uses available technology/instructional media to enhance studstudents'rning experiences. - Establishes and maintains appropriate relationships with students, parents, staff, and community members by communicating tactfully, courteously, and confidentially. - Appropriately communicates and interacts with other professional staff in academic planning and school committee work. - Attend and participate in staff meetings, extra-curricular/school-related activities, and committees. - Demonstrates a commitment to continuous professional growth and works with the administrator to formulate and complete professional development plans. - Maintains a professional appearance and demonstrates conscientious and responsible behavior. - Engages parents and guardians in the education of their children. - Does not engage in discriminatory practices, including race, origin, gender, socioeconomic status, disability, religion, or political beliefs. - Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the site administrator. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: - Knowledge and application of Sand Springs Public Schools District and departmental policies and procedures - Knowledge and application of appropriate teaching strategies and methods - Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, vendors, students, parents, the general public, and others having business with the school district - Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications and equipment OTHER REQUIREMENTS: - Specialized teaching assignments may require additional training and/or certification. - Must pass an initial fingerprint and background clearance check and maintain a valid fingerprint clearance card in the classroom. - May be required to lift and carry heavy, bulky supplies and materials weighing up to 20 pounds. - May be required to work outside regular working hours. - May be required to travel to perform work functions.
