A Scoreboard Keeper for public schools is responsible for accurately recording and displaying scores, time, and other relevant game information during sporting events. This role typically involves operating the scoreboard, maintaining official game records, and communicating with game officials, coaches, and other event staff. Salary: Set amount for each event Status: Non-Exempt Supervisor: Rod Sitton, Director of Athletics and Assistant Director of Athletics Key Responsibilities: - Must be able to communicate effectively in a stress-filled environment.- Must be able to climb stairs- Must be available evenings and weekends- Knowledge of athletic events and rules
    Operating the Scoreboard:Accurately displaying scores, time, and other game information (e.g., fouls, timeouts, period) using the scoreboard system.
    Maintaining Official Game Records:Keeping scorebooks or other official records, documenting points, fouls, and other relevant statistics.
    Communicating with Officials:Working with referees and other game officials to resolve any scoring discrepancies or rule clarifications.
    Preparing Game Reports:May be required to prepare and distribute game reports to coaches, administrators, or other relevant parties.
    Pre-game and Post-game Setup/Cleanup:Assisting with setting up the scoring table, scoreboard, and other equipment before the game, and with cleanup afterward.
    Maintaining Equipment:Ensuring that the scoreboard and other scoring equipment are functioning properly and reporting any issues. Essential Skills and Qualifications:
      Attention to Detail:Accurate record-keeping and timely scoreboard updates are crucial.
      Knowledge of Sports Rules:Understanding the rules of the sports for which they are keeping score is essential.
      Communication Skills:Ability to communicate effectively with game officials, coaches, and other staff.
      Ability to Work Under Pressure:Keeping up with the fast pace of a game and making quick, accurate decisions.
      Reliability and Punctuality:Arriving on time and being dependable in fulfilling the assigned responsibilities.
      Basic Computer Skills:Operating electronic scoreboards and record-keeping systems often requires basic computer knowledge.
