Position Title:              Advanced Mathematics Teacher

 

 Location:                      Sand Springs Public Schools

                                           Charles Page High School

                                     

Reports to:                   Principal and/or other Supervisor  (Ryan Bivin, Principal)

 

Contract:                      180 Days/ 7 hours daily

 

Status:                          Exempt

 

QUALIFICATIONS:        Must hold proper state certification (Advanced Mathematics for High School)/OSBI                                             background check



Position Summary:

Create a flexible program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establish effective rapport with pupils; motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for education following each pupil's ability; and establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.

Essential Duties:
• Teach advanced mathematics to pupils in a classroom, using the course of study adopted by the Oklahoma State Department of Education and Sand Springs  Board of Education and any other appropriate learning activities.
• Instruct pupils in citizenship and essential subject matter specified in the school district's state law and administrative regulations and procedures.
• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil with the identified objectives.
• Translates lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize the available time for instruction.
• Utilizes grading patterns that are fairly administered and based on identified criteria.
• Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. Treat pupils with respect and dignity.
• Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
• Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupils' progress and interpret the school program.
• Interacts with pupils, staff, and parents positively and professionally.
• Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
• Establish rapport with pupils and provide a pleasant, safe, and orderly climate conducive to learning.
• Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.
• Supervise and monitor students during out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day, which may include but are not limited to (cafeteria duty, field trips, playground duty, hallway monitoring, etc.).
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Required):
• A bachelor's in education or a related field is required.
• Oklahoma Teaching Certification in subjects listed below or subjects or Alternative Teaching Certification approved by the Oklahoma State Department of Education is required.
•  Advanced/Secondary Mathematics.
• Must possess an ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community.
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others, demonstrate self-discipline and initiative, and follow state and district guidelines.

Occasional Requirements: Lift/move up to 25 pounds, ability to administer CPR

Visual Requirements: Close, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus

Hearing/Speaking Requirements: Adequate to exchange information
