Position:  Clyde Boyd Middle School Dance Coach

Reports to: (works in conjunction with the Varsity and Jr. Varsity Dance Coach) Clyde Boyd Middle School Principal, Angelia Noel

Salary: (Annual Appointment) Stipend

 

General Summary:

According to district policies and procedures, the dance team is an activity that helps students develop skills in leadership, discipline, sportsmanship, and many other areas. An adequately designed dance team program can positively impact the educational development of the students involved. 

 

Qualifications:

1. Background knowledge and experience in dance

2. Previous experience is desired

3. Other Requirements- Must pass an OSBI background check, have a current driver's license, and be willing to drive a school activity van.

4. Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions- Requires prolonged sitting and standing; requires stooping, bending, reaching, and lifting; requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials; must work in stressful and hectic environments; requires the ability to handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions; will require some travel; requires physical and emotional endurance; must be able to work long and irregular hours; and requires regular and consistent attendance and physical presence on the job. 

 

Essential Functions:

1.   To be responsible for the information in the Sandites Middle School Dance Guidelines and Procedures and the implementation of the policies/procedures/goals therein. 

2.   Organize, plan, and supervise tryouts.

3.   Once the dance team has been selected, the coach should see that a list of objectives is established to serve as goals the group will attempt to attain.

4.   Promote the type of sportsmanship to help students acquire the essential attributes of good citizenship. 

5.   Develop a wholesome school spirit.

6.   Develop loyalty to their school.

7.   Promote a cooperative spirit between the student body, faculty, and school administration.

8.   Help the school achieve its interscholastic activities program's most worthwhile educational objectives.

9.   Choreograph and prepare routines for performances at games and events as assigned.

10. Choreograph and prepare routines or secure an outside choreographer for competitions in and out of state.

11. Work with the principal and outside choreographer to ensure background checks and contractual agreements are completed before working with students.

12. Other duties as assigned.
