Sand Springs Public Schools is seeking enthusiastic and reliable individuals to provide essential instructional support in the absence of our regular classroom teachers. As a Substitute Teacher, you'll play a vital role in maintaining a positive and productive learning environment, ensuring students continue to thrive academically and socially.

Qualifications:
For Certified Candidates: Valid state teaching license/certification (please specify relevant subject areas if applicable).
For non-certified candidates, a high school diploma or GED is required. Some college coursework preferred. Prior experience working with children or in an educational setting is a plus.
Certified and Non-Certified Candidates:
Successful completion of a background check and fingerprinting (paid for by the applicant).
Certified- Hourly Pay $100.00 daily
Non-Certified- Hourly Pay $80.00 daily
Support Employee- Hourly Pay $10.00 hourly (varies 7 to 7.5 hours daily, per position)

Qualifications
- Language, Math, and Reasoning
- Language Skills
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
- Math Skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but involved written or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
- High school diploma or General Educational Degree (GED)
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Windows and/or Google Docs

Responsibilities
This person follows and teaches lesson plans, aids students in understanding subject matter, and ensures that regular classroom routines are followed.
- Provide meaningful instruction to students in assigned classrooms while the regular teacher is absent
- Review and implement the regular teacher's routines, procedures, lesson plans, and curriculum objectives
- Establish and maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment
- Report any student injuries, illness, and serious discipline problems to the school administration
- Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions
- Maintain a positive learning environment and respond to the individual needs of the students.
- Implement effective lessons in the absence of the regular Instructor.
- Ensure that district policies are observed during all activities.
- Create a safe classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
- Keep all children in the classroom under supervision at all times.
- Be familiar with fire exits, fire drill procedures, severe storm and tornado warning procedures. Review notes for the day, take attendance and follow the lesson plans of the teacher.
- Maintain confidentiality as defined by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
- Demonstrate the ability to adapt to circumstances. Exhibit good judgment and use appropriate language or behavior while on assignment.
- Report for duty 30 minutes early and remain on duty for the entire assignment, including planning time of the teacher.
- Evaluate and grade students' class work, assignments, and papers (as needed)
- Supervise students' fieldwork, internship, and research work (if applicable)
- Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records (if applicable)
- Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching and research issues (if applicable)
- Compile, administer, and grade examinations, or assign this work to others (if applicable)
- Serve on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies, departmental matters, and academic issues (if applicable)
- Issues written and oral instructions; assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures (if applicable)
- Perform other duties as directed by the school administration (if applicable)
- Other duties as assigned or as become evident
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Abide by state statutes, school board policies, and regulations.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Leave detailed notes for the teacher on any issues experienced during the day.
- Other duties as assigned by the Principal or the Substitute Office
