Position:  Special Education Teacher (Severe to Profound)

 

Location:  Transition Academy 

                 14 West 4th Street

                 Sand Springs, OK 74063

 

Supervisor:  Site Principal, Jay Rotert

 

Reports to:  Building Principal and Director of Special Services 

 

Supervises:  Assigned Paraprofessionals, Students

 

Evaluation:  Annually by Site Principal

 

Classification: Exempt

 

Qualifications: Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate in Assigned Subject(s);  K-12 Special Education, severe to profound, applicant must be able to pass an OSBI background check

 

Job Goal: Provide exceptional instruction to assigned students while working within the district's established policies and procedures.

Intelligence:

Requires the ability to read and follow various instructions on the district, state, and federal websites, as well as a hard copy.

 

Language Ability:

Requires the ability to read a variety of correspondence.

Requires the ability to prepare lessons, reports, etc., using prescribed formats and conforming to all grammar rules.

  

Verbal Aptitude:

Requires the ability to record and deliver information, explain procedures, and give oral and written instructions.

Must be able to communicate effectively.

Must possess the ability to speak to people with poise, voice control, and confidence.

Must be able to deliver effective presentations to both small and large audiences.
