Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (Flexible based on project needs), July 1st- August 14th
Job Overview
Are you a tech-savvy student looking for hands-on experience this summer? Sand Springs Public Schools is looking for a motivated and reliable Student Summer Worker to join our Information Technology (IT) Department!
This is an excellent opportunity to peek behind the scenes of a school district’s technology infrastructure, learn valuable troubleshooting skills, and help us prepare our campuses for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. You will work closely with our IT professionals to update, organize, clean, and deploy devices across the district. Key Responsibilities
- Device Maintenance & Prep: Assist with the collection, cleaning, and preparation of student Chromebooks and teacher devices for the upcoming school year.
- Inventory Management: Help scan, barcode, and organize incoming technology equipment and shipments.
- Classroom Setup: Assist IT technicians with moving, setting up, and wiring desktop computers, monitors, and smartboards in classrooms and labs.
- Basic Troubleshooting: Perform basic hardware tests to identify broken screens, missing keys, or battery issues on district devices.
- Cable Management: Help organize and secure cables in computer labs and classroom charging carts.
- General Support: Perform other physical and technical tasks as assigned by the IT Director and technicians to support the district's summer technology goals.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Student Status: Must be a currently enrolled high school student
- Technical Skills: Basic familiarity with computers, Chromebooks, and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive). A general passion for technology is a huge plus!
- Physical Ability: Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs, stand for extended periods, walk between campus buildings, and comfortably navigate under desks to route cables.
- Work Ethic: Must be highly reliable, punctual, and capable of working effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to carefully follow instructions, especially when logging inventory or handling delicate electronic equipment.
- Background Check: Must be able to pass an OSBI background check.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to speak clearly in a well-modulated voice with good diction. Ability to read, write, and interpret English in various forms. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
