Position: STEM/Computer Technology Teacher
Location: Pratt Elementary

Evaluation: Oklahoma TLE/Annually Pursuant to Oklahoma Law/ Pass an OSBI Background Check
Description:
To offer enriched computer education to elementary students utilizing the computer lab; assist teachers with the appropriate use of classroom technology; and work with classroom teachers on interdisciplinary use of computer technology.
Will require additional PLTW training outside the 180-day contract.
Expectations:
- Applicants should hold Elementary Education Certification from the state of Oklahoma.
- Applicants should have a working knowledge of computers, software, hardware, and troubleshooting skills. This includes network login, Windows 7, designing webpages, Office 2010, SmartBoard, Typing, Google, Project Lead the Way, Keyboarding, and other district software/hardware.
- Applicants should be familiar with the Oklahoma Standards for Computer Science.
- Applicants should be familiar with the use of web-based applications such as wikis, blogs, and other Web 2.0 tools to facilitate collaborative learning, development of projects, and presentation of material.
- Applicants should have a willingness to conduct teacher training related to computer technology at the building level.
- Applicants should possess patience needed to assist students of all ages and ability levels.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Knowledge and application of Sand Springs Public School District and departmental policies and procedures
- Knowledge and application of appropriate teaching strategies and methods
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, vendors, students, parents, the general public, and others having business with the school district
- Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications and equipment
Job Requirements:
- To provide students a comprehensive computer education for grades K-5 using the computer lab.
- To develop detailed lesson plans which support the computer technology program. This includes typing instruction, as well as basic computing and internet skills.
- To utilize a variety of instructional strategies in the computer lab.
- To collaborate with classroom teachers in preparing interdisciplinary lessons.
- To oversee and guide students and staff in the use of the elementary computer lab.
- To provide an enriched classroom environment that enables students to learn productively.
- To keep the computers and all support equipment and materials well maintained and in good working order.
- To maintain an annual inventory of all software and hardware.
- To fulfill other teacher responsibilities as noted in the job description.
- To attend regular technology committee meetings and provide input regarding site technology decisions.

Regular Requirements: Stand for extended periods; walk; twist at the neck and trunk; bend and reach with hands and arms overhead, above the shoulder, and horizontally; repetitive use of fingers and hands to grasp and/or operate equipment and demonstrate lessons to students; lift/move up to 15 pounds
Occasional Requirements: Lift/move up to 25 pounds, ability to administer CPR
Visual Requirements: Close, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus
Hearing/Speaking Requirements: Adequate to exchange information
- Specialized teaching assignments may require additional training and/or certification.
- Must be able to pass an initial fingerprint and background clearance check and maintain a valid fingerprint clearance card at all times when in the classroom.
- May be required to work outside normal working hours.
- May be required to travel to perform work functions.
